How Choosing the Right Fire Suppression System Saves You Money

Do you wonder how fire suppression systems operate or how choosing the right fire suspension system will save you thousands of dollars?

If you operate property or own a company, you might have learned about the value of fire safety systems. But do you know the difference between the sprinkler system and the suppression system? You must understand what fire suppression systems are and which work best in a variety of scenarios. The wrong fire suppression system is likely to cause more harm than the actual fire.

The fire suppression system is an engineered group of units designed to extinguish fires by applying a substance. Most notably, fire suppression systems have built-in modules that detect fires in the early stages by flame, smoke, and other warning signals. They are connected to a warning device that will warn you when a fire has been identified and take measures to further contain the fire.

Most fire suppression devices can immediately release outer material to extinguish the fire after identification and/or warning. However, some fire protection devices have a manual release of the program.

Building a new building and guaranteeing that the vital appliances and resources are effectively secured from fire devastation? Or maybe you’re in an old building with its original fire protection systems to preserve and protect your new server room in the event of a fire.

When you’re on the market and choosing the right fire suppression system for your business or facility. We’ll help you get a greater understanding of the fundamentals of what these systems are and what varieties are applicable will help you to make the right decision for your unique situation.

What is a Fire Suppression System?

In simple terms, a fire suppression system is, to a certain extent, exactly what it sounds like – a system used to try and control and/or extinguish a fire within a facility.

Worth noting that fire suppression systems are different from fire sprinkler systems. Fire sprinklers often use water to extinguish and/or control a fire in copious amounts. Water damage to the room/building material can often happen as a result, but life is saved, as is the structure.

The suppression system aims to take action before a fire is allowed to grow and spread, indeed reducing potential damage. It often means that these systems are activated at a much earlier development rate than fire sprinklers or smoke alarm systems.

However, in fire suppression systems, other types of suppression agents are used besides water. These suppressants include CO2, chemical or undetectable gases. As discussed below, these agents have unique properties best suited for protecting sensitive equipment and material within a building while suppressing fire.

Types of Fire Suspension Systems

Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems

Carbon dioxide is a clean and non-flammable gas that is popularly used as a fire extinguishing agent in places not normally occupied by people. CO2 quickly and effectively extinguishes fires without leaving some toxic or liquid residue that could damage property or equipment.

Foam Fire Suppression Systems

Foam extinguishing systems are crucial for the rapid control and extinguishing of flammable liquid fire incidents.

Dry Pipe Systems

The dry-pipe system uses automatic sprinklers attached to the air or nitrogen-containing pipe system under pressure. When released, the water flows into the pipe system and release only from the sprinklers operated by the fire. Dry-pipe systems can be installed instead of wet-pipe systems where the pipe is frozen.

Special Hazard Fire Protection Systems

Special systems are created to detect and extinguish fires in locations where standard suppression systems are not applicable.

Wet Fire Sprinkler Systems

The wet-pipe system uses automated water sprinklers attached to a water supply piping system. The water immediately pours out from fire-opened sprinklers. Water can only be drained by those sprinklers that have been operated by heat on the fire.

Dry Chemical Fire Suppression Systems

Pressured dry chemicals, used in combination with the proper monitoring system, can extinguish the fire until it can be observed in the eye, thereby shielding infrastructure from destruction and industries from any significant disruptions.

How Choosing the Right Fire Suppression System Saves You Money

You know, fire claims can be expensive, but just how far can they set you back? The average fire entitlement for a small business is around CAD 45,000. Even if you have insurance, the cost of time lost and resources to clean up the damage and restore the property will hurt your bottom line. The installation of a fire suppression system is an easy way for business owners to reduce fire damage.  Whether you are a homeowner or a  business owner. To improve the safety and security of your property, think about installing a fire suppression system.

Clearly, there are a plethora of ways to consider when choosing the right fire suppression system for your situation. The best one for you all relies on the applications you need and the facilities, occupants and materials you need to secure.

There are several different forms of fire suppression systems that you can use in your facility, each with its own pros and cons.

Choosing a fire prevention device means evaluating the type of assets you have in your building and whether you have any unique hazards to consider. To select a fire protection system, you’ll want to consider the pros and cons of each of the various models and determine which one is better suited to your needs.
